ALIA is supporting the creation of “a wiki to promote careers in the library and information industry to secondary students and their careers teachers.
We need your help to collect profiles.
Do you know someone who works in the library and information industry whose profile would inspire teenagers to join the profession, if the answer is yes please pass this email onto them and encourage them tosend their profile to [email protected].
And if you think your profile might inspire someone to join our profession please don’t be shy send your profile to me ASAP.”

What’s great about your job?
What’s the most fun experience you’ve had at work?
Describe a typical day at work?
What do you find rewarding and challenging about your job?
What are the personal skills and attributes that you need to do this job?
They ask that you keep answers to less than 100 word - preferably using a couple of sentences.
You can also send a passport sized photo to go with your profile, but can indicate if you don’t wish it to be used in anything other than your profile.

Addendum: The wiki is a national project that aims to promote careers in all sectors of the library and information industry and carries funding from ALIA to support it.
