2010 vision: Transformation Lab at Aarhus Public Library, Denmark

Posted May 14th 2007 @ 12:41 am by Kathryn Greenhill

While we’re gazing toward 2010, here is an amazing 7 minute video of the Transformation Lab experiment in a Danish Library that transforms one library space into many possible library futures. My favourite bit is the “questions floor”, where library users can answer questions projected onto the library floor via their mobile phones.
Alane at OCLC’s [...]

Posted May 7th 2007 @ 5:46 pm by Kathryn Greenhill

Can’t afford $895+ to attend expensive seminars about Library2.0? Me neither. Here then, is a quickie definition of Library2.0 and a few resources for further reading.
What is Library2.0?
Library 2.0 includes the application of Web2.0 technologies and tools to our libraries, but it goes further than this and involves rethinking where the library boundaries lie and [...]

Apologies to those who linked and networked to http://del.icio.us/actplreference. It’s now been taken down, as administrators in my library were concerned about things being put up in its name without departmental approval. Most of the same links are available on http://del.icio.us/frightfullynew.
This got me thinking about all of the trust issues for librarians in Library2.0. It [...]

John Blyberg, of the Ann Arbor District Library, recently announced the release of the SOPAC. The SOPAC, “cute speak” for the Social OPAC, is a redevelopment of the library catalogue that contains a number of features that are present in the ever increasing sphere of Web 2.0 sites. Posted January 3rd 2007 @ 7:13 am by techxplorer

First spotted on LibrarianInBlack. There is a new entrant in the Library systems space and it is called Evergreen. There is a very interesting article on Linux.com about Evergreen including a brief outline of the decision to create their own system.
