New Books for Bushfire Victims

Posted August 14th 2009 @ 2:45 pm by Peta Hopkins

ALIA has released an advance notice for “Rebuilding with Books”, a campaign to provide new books for families with empty bookshelves.

“When the bushfires swept across Victoria in February, homes and contents were
destroyed and thousands of books turned to ash. In the immediate aftermath, the
basic necessities of life took priority, but as people begin to rebuild their homes and
their lives, they need our support to help them Rebuild with Books.” — Advance Notice

The campaign will be properly launched at the end of August, and isĀ  a joint effort by ALIA, the Australian Booksellers Association and Australian Publishers’ Association.
