The Librarians – they’re back……

Posted August 3rd 2009 @ 8:47 pm by tango

The 2nd season of The Librarians premieres on ABC on Wednesday 5th August at 9pm.

The Middleton Interactive Learning Centre staff team are back and up to more mischief, with new adventures, new problems and additional cast members in the form of Vince Colosimo, Noni Hazlehurst and Hamish Blake.

ALIA has rekick-started The Librarian’s blog, to follow all the mayhem and provide added extras and I’m sure there will be The Librarians launch parties happening nationwide.

If you liked the 1st season or are just curious, curl up in front of your TV, sit back and enjoy.  If the thought of it even coming back for a 2nd season makes you cringe, then avoid ABC Channel 2 on Wednesday 5th August at 9pm. (and for the 5 weeks following)

Both my wife (who is a librarian) and I will be avoiding this show.

I must admit I’m surprised to see ALIA promoting the show after the response it got last time from the library community. I was at one of the launch parties last year and the majority were embarrassed that ALIA was promoting the show.

I also was embarrassed by the last series of this show. How can ALIA promote a show that shows librarians as arrogant, racist, selfish and more? A person doesn’t get to be head of a public library without knowing how to conduct themselves properly.

The Librarians show is damaging to the profession!
