A new e-list with an Australian focus has been established for systems librarians. Renata Dyer from Information Services at The Treasury invites like-minded systems librarians to subscribe to the ALIA e-list called aliaLIBSYSTEMS.
“The aim of this list is to provide communication among Australia-based library professionals who are involved in library systems management and/or employing technology to support library services and products. Some of the e-list topics include but should not limit discussions to: new generation library catalogues, web design relevant for library content, use of reference management system, electronic resources system, openURL resolver, use of open source software in libraries and so on.
Many of the existing lists with this coverage are US based and I felt Australia-based libraries would benefit from having an Australian group. I hope this space becomes a collaboration tool for the group members so please join the e-list” says Renata.

Interest for this e-list was just overwhelming: 240 members joined in the first 24 hours after it was made available! And two separate discussions are on already.

Wow, that’s an impressive uptake.

Really enjoying the discussions so far! Learning a lot about what different libraries are doing that we didn’t seem to have an outlet for before.
