Internet filtering at ISP level for Australia

Posted January 2nd 2008 @ 8:53 am by tango

Senator Stephen Conroy - Telecommunications Minister in the new Labour Government, announced that “it will be mandatory for all internet service providers to provide clean feeds, or ISP filtering, to houses and schools that are free of pornography and inappropriate material”.

Announced on 31st December and reported on ABC News, the implications for libraries are not clear.  Check out the reports on TechCrunch, and Kathryn’s examination at Librarians Matter.

Nothing at this stage from ALIA, but its only 2nd January and with the holiday yesterday, we should expect something from them soon.
