As expected following the Labor win in the federal election, the Research Quality Framework Assessment has been cancelled.

However, universities will still receive the funding under the Australian Scheme for Higher Education Repositories (ASHER) Program and the Implementation Assistance Program (IAP) in 2008.

It has not all been for nought. Some wonderful growth in research repositories has occurred in University research repositories, which hopefully will continue to encourage open access to a wealth of valuable research results.
