Alison Hunter from the University of Southern Queensland has established a Google Group for Australian and New Zealand repository managers.
“This Group was set up following a meeting at Educause Australasia
2007, where there was an interesting discussion about creating an
inclusive national group of people involved in managing institutional
repositories. Those present didn’t want a formally constituted group
but did want to have better communications and sharing of information
amongst us all, whether or not we were in one of the current
Australian or New Zealand projects or groupingsSo this group is a start of that enthusiasm. Please contribute your
ideas, information or announcements, issues, problems, frustrations,
joys about any general aspect of institutional repository management! This list isn’t intended to replace the detailed specific and/or
technical discussions on other lists, but to be a forum for general
issues that we yak about at seminar coffeebreaks or keep us all awake
at night… ” says Alison.
Alison is a hard worker who deserves to sleep well at night. I hope this group helps her get some rest! Maybe less coffee at those breaks might also help :-). I’m looking forward to being able to plug into the expertise and wisdom of the group using a tool that is not a discussion list. I’m so over email discussion lists. Thanks Alison.
