May is Information Awareness Month and Library and Information Week is just around the corner too. LINT is hosting a blog-in to celebrate and to encourage some future-gazing. Please join in our celebration. All participants will have a chance to win a signed copy of Meredith Farkas “Social Software in Libraries”.
1. Sitting comfortably, shrug your shoulders a few times and wiggle your toes and fingers. Take a deep breath and gently release it.
2. Close your eyes and imagine you are in your library. Think about how it looks, what you can do there and who you might see there. Take a minute or two or five to visualize.
3. Now fast-forward to 2010. How have things changed in your library? What do you see around you? What services are offered? Who is visiting. Take your time.
4. Now write your vision of the future library. Write as little or as much as you like in any format you choose. Poems and drawings are welcome if you are feeling creatively inclined.
5. Post your vision directly to LINT if you are registered to contribute, or you may email your vision to librarian at librariesinteract dot info.
Entries close May the 20th. The winning post will be decided by the Thali and announced in Library and Information Week.
Happy day dreaming.

Coincidentally, I blogged about a possible “Library of the Future” in this post. Not sure if it qualifies as an entry though
