Sharon Karasmanis wrote to me a couple of weeks ago with an update on the Libs for Africa fundraiser and I’ve only now got around to writing an update. A recent check of the website shows that the goals of the campaign have been exceeded. With $8000 raised there is enough to send 12 librarians to the IFLA conference.
Sharon reported on a couple of significant donations. Friends of Ipswich Library Service donated one full registration fee and $1000 was raised at the National Library of Australia.
“We are hoping to finalise fund raising by 31st March. I am starting to gather ideas for mentoring for the successful delegates. I feel this is an important aspect to complete the project successfully, and also to fully enhance the delegates IFLA experience both professionally and socially!” says Sharon.
Congratulations to Sharon and her team on such a succesful campaign, and to all the donors for their contributions.
