Repository workflows

Posted November 28th 2006 @ 4:32 pm by Neil Godfrey

I’d be interested in hearing from anyone interested in this topic what sorts of things they’d expect or like to hear about in a presentation on this topic. Are there any here who are interested in this topic, whether DSpacers or VITALizers or Fezers or EPrinters or others?

Since I’ve been asked to do a presentation on this topic to others who are starting out with their repositories so I’d love to hear from you.

My background is that I used to work as an eprints repository editor in early days when we were all learning as we went and I’m currently with the RUBRIC project. I’ve already been lucky enough to have had 2 others describe their eprints workflows to me, but now I’m sitting down to work out a presentation I’m sure there must be many aspects and questions that I should be aware of that may be on the minds of others across a wider range of experiences.

Thanks in advance,
Neil Godfrey

From a personal perspective, it is always interesting to hear why you would choose one repository solution over another (even including some technical detail).

Also, if you have had any experience in getting faculty support for the repository, that is useful for others to hear about, too. It’s been quite a long process here at MPOW (Curtin) but now with RQF looming we’re pleased that we have the repository up and running and available as a resource for people to use.

Thanks for this. What version of ePrints do you use at Curtin?

Neil, we use ePrints 2.2.1 (more info here). Incidentally we are moving to Digitool in 2007…
